Cheap day trips
Cheap day trips are a super-duper fun way to celebrate a birthday. For example: Have you ever heard of Geocashing? If not, it's fun to how to geocache.
I hadn't heard about it until a year ago. It's an outdoors
treasure hunting game. You use your GPS to find small hidden containers.
There's lots of information on the web about this great and very
inexpensive activity.
My nephew lives near Lake Tahoe. He and
his wife go Geocashing all the time. They are getting quite a name for
themselves for discovering hard to find treasures! Tops my list for
homemade gift ideas for boys!

Toot-Toot . . . All Aboard for a Train Ride -
I love riding the train. The great thing about the train is that you don't have to hassle with traffic. Plus, you see parts of the country that you miss by car. |
We're
lucky enough to have an Amtrak station in our town. I've enjoyed some
great train rides to Los Angeles, Reno Nevada, the San Francisco Bay
area, and our State Capitol in Sacramento, CA.
Check out
Amtrak.com for their weekly specials and latest promotions. If there's a
special event in a city near you (a concert or circus etc.), often
times you can get a discounted train pass and event ticket together on
Amtrak.com.
Pack and lunch and you're set.
